Coach Chris McKnight
Chris McKnight is a veteran baseball executive, coach, and scout with over three decades of experience in player development, collegiate athletics, and professional scouting. His career spans every level of the game—from youth and travel baseball to NCAA collegiate programs and Major League organizations.
Coach McKnight served as an Associate Scout for the Philadelphia Phillies (2008–2015) and the Baltimore Orioles (2015–2018), where he evaluated and developed amateur and professional talent across multiple regions. His work at the professional level focused on identifying high-ceiling athletes and supporting their long-term development within competitive baseball systems.
Collegiate Coaching Leadership
A former 20-year NCAA collegiate head coach at Frostburg State University and Dowling College, McKnight established a legacy of sustained excellence and program development.
At Frostburg State University, he led the program to its first NCAA Regional Championship and back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances, setting historic benchmarks for the school. Between 2004 and 2007, his teams established 118 Top-Ten program records, including both single-season and career offensive and pitching marks.
During his tenure:
Became the fastest coach to reach 100 wins
Led teams to eight consecutive postseason appearances
Compiled a 98–28 conference record
Captured four conference championships
More than 115 players earned all-conference honors, 17 players signed professional contracts, and several athletes received prestigious awards, including the Rawlings Gold Glove. Coach McKnight also served as Chairperson of the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee, helping guide the direction and governance of collegiate baseball at the national level.
Professional Baseball Experience
At the professional level, McKnight served as Field Manager and Director of Baseball Operations for the Texarkana Gunslingers (2008–2009).
